Q. What is PTA and why become a member?
A. It is safe to assume that parents, teachers and school administrators each hope to provide a safe, and supportive educational environment for students. A Parent Teacher Association provides structure and organization so our efforts to help students are most effective and carried out in a fair and open way. Joining the PTA allows you to work to improve your local school while adding strength to a national organization.
Q. When does the PTA meet?
A. The Brown Station Elementary School PTA typically meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the All Purpose Room – everyone is invited. Check the PTA calendar for specific dates.
Q. How much does it cost to join the PTA?
A. Membership in the Brown Station ES PTA is open to all interested adults for $10 per person or $15 for 2 people. Please find our Membership Form at the link on the homepage. Print, fill in fields, and send check payable to Brown Station PTA to the main office in an envelope labeled “PTA Membership.”
Q. If I join the PTA must I volunteer?
A. No. It is your choice whether to become involved or not. Although we are always looking for volunteers, you are free to choose if or when you would like to help.
Q. Do I need to be a PTA member to attend a PTA meeting?
A. No. Anyone can attend a General Membership meeting, but only members can vote. Check the PTA Calendar for the next meeting. Students and younger siblings are welcomed – but please confirm with the President that childcare will be available at the meeting you plan to attend.
Q. How can I get more involved at Brown Station?
A. We hope that every parent will feel welcomed to get involved! We have volunteer opportunities that require as little as 1 hour to as much as several hours/week. You can volunteer from home or at school. Please check out the link theVolunteering @ BSES tab for a list of our many volunteering opportunities. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions about volunteering or would like to share an idea.
Q. Where can I get a list of student addresses and phone numbers?
A. In the interest of protecting the privacy and security of our students and parents, the Brown Station PTA has no plans to publish a directory of students’ addresses and phone numbers. Parents who wish to gather addresses and phone numbers for classmates of their children are encouraged to make that request of their classroom teacher.
